Proper Attire In the Clubhouse: Members expect, and the Board supports, a conservative dress code for members and guests of all ages in the clubhouse, on the practice range, putting green and on the golf course. The Clubhouse Main Floor and Upper Level including the Foyer, Sun Room, Board Room, Foyer Reception Hallway, Fireside Lounge, Mini-Bar, Terrace Dining Rooms, Ballroom, West Porch, East Porch and Café Lounge are all considered formal areas of the Club. In these areas, proper attire includes a coat and tie for gentlemen. For ladies, proper attire in the evening is a dress or an appropriate formal pants ensemble; during the day, ladies may wear a dress, skirt or smartly-styled slacks and blazer. No jeans or denim of any type are allowed at any time.
Proper Attire On the Golf Course: Appropriate attire while on the premises of the Club, other than formal areas of the Clubhouse is generally defined as golf attire or less formal attire. Acceptable golf attire includes slacks, Bermuda-style shorts (no more than four inches above the knee), knickers and golf shirts with collars for gentlemen. For ladies, acceptable attire includes skirts, trousers, Bermuda-style shorts, culottes – the length of which should be no shorter than halfway between mid-thigh and the knee, and collared golf shirts. In addition, because of fashion changes, appropriately designed collarless golf shirts with sleeves and similar sleeveless shirts with collars have been deemed acceptable for ladies. Although a complete list of unacceptable attire is not possible, included in such a list for ladies and gentlemen are ordinary tee-shirts, shorts which do not meet the length requirement, cut-offs, tank tops, jeans, tennis or running attire, etc. Shirts are expected to be tucked in at the waistband. Men are reminded that hats should be worn in traditional fashion, and should not be worn in the Locker Room Lounge. Juniors and children are expected to be attired in a manner consistent with these guidelines. Professional Staff has been asked to provide any further guidance and to bring to the attention of Members for correction any departure from these norms.
Business Paraphernalia: Bloomfield Hills Country Club is a private, family and Member-oriented Club, and unlike some other Clubs, is not a business-oriented Club. Prospective Members and guests are advised that business paraphernalia such as brief cases and cellular telephones should be left in their vehicles. We apologize for the inconvenience, but in the BHCC traditions, the use of cellular phones is expressly prohibited anywhere on the premises.
